EduVNC gets its name from both the TLD for educational domains (.edu) and the original VNC software package, which uses a client and server to offer similar functionality. EduVNC offers a number of features which determine who can view and if they can remotely take control. Its designed for easy distribution and administration in a hostile classroom environment. Check out a list of just a few of the large number of educational uses for this sort of application.

EduVNC is a more modern design than its VNC namesake and builds on web technology that didn't exist when VNC was first created. Instead of a specialize client and protocol it presents a web based service which is usable via any web browser. EduVNC is written in C# on .NET and the client uses only the HTML and JavaScript (AJAX) present in any modern browser. Because there is no client to install, or Java / Active-X code to download, it is very easy to integrate into existing software and web pages.

EduVNC is based on the BSD licensed A-VNC. That code base was then enhanced to provide a number of additional features needed in an education environment. It also uses code from PHPJS do perform the client side hashing. See login.htm for the full copyright notice.
