Uninstalling EduVNC
EduVNC tries to make both the install and uninstall process simple and easy to automate. There are a number of ways to start the uninstall process or we provide instructions on how to manually uninstall as well. Just as with the installer, the uninstaller supports a silent uninstall trigger by adding /S to the command line.
Starting the Uninstaller
As with most programs EduVNC adds an uninstall entry into the Add / Remove programs control panel. The uninstaller can be launched from there. EduVNC also creates an uninstall shortcut in the start menu when it is installed. This will uninstall the application and remove it from the computer using the same uninstaller as the Add / Remove Programs way does. If you are missing the shortcut and control panel entry you can also manually run uninstall.exe from the folder where you installed EduVNC to to start the uninstall process. The install will not complete until EduVNC is closed (Windows does not allow the deletion of running programs or open files)
Manually Uninstalling
EduVNC is fully contained inside the directory you choose to install it to. It does not install .dll or other files to various Windows folders. Deleting the EduVNC installation folder will effectively remove EduVNC from your hard drive. If you have selected to have EduVNC launch on startup its best to disbale it before deleting. This will prevent Windows from trying to start EduVNC once you have deleted the files.
Manual Registry Removal
In vast majority of cases the very small number of registry entries EduVNC leave behind after a manual delete are safely ignored. This information is intended for season professionals who understand the risks of registry editing, if that isn't you please don't attempt this. EduVNC's registry entries for application settings and created services are located in HKLM\Software\EduVNC. This key and its children can be removed to clear all EduVNC settings and saved services. The individual features and their corresponding registries keys are also individually documented in the Category:Features section. Here you can find documentation of each key in that tree and how EduVNC interprets them in case you only want to preserve some of the existing settings for a future re-install. EduVNC also uses a string named EduVNC in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run to trigger its Run on Startup feature.
Scams offering uninstallers for EduVNC
A warning to our customers: There are several sites (uninstallhelp.com, perfectuninstaller.com, and others) offering uninstallers for EduVNC which are actually scams or viruses. These sites claim that EduVNC does not cleanly uninstall and you need to download and use their software to cleanly uninstall EduVNC. These sites are simply trying to take your money or infect your computer. They are not affiliated with EduVNC and their claims are false. We are not aware of any problems cause by or cases where EduVNC does not install. If you do have difficulty uninstalling EduVNC please contact our support so we can help you and fix whatever flaw you have uncovered.
